I use exactly what saw the rack describes, with a slight modification. I bend the pointed end of the compass so when you put it on the pin, cg, or mb it remains more upright and makes it a bit easier to draw the lines. I also use a quarter scale to set the compass on the distance I want. I know a guy that bought 10 or so compasses, set them to different lengths, then crimped them all so they don't change. Save your $100.
