short pin to pap distances
« on: March 05, 2012, 08:09:31 AM »
Just making sure I am clear on this...

Take a given layout... 75 X x.x X 50 on a ball.  For a symmetric core, a shorter pin to pap.. say 2.5" has less flare and tends to roll earlier than something with a 5" pin.

Where I have not played around with it much (and reading some layout instructions and articles), this is not true for strong assymetrical core?  How would reaction change (in general) between the 2.5" pin vs the 5" pin?

2.5" pin to pap would have a little less flare than a 5" pin to pap.  Here is a link to the documentation of the dual angle layout: http://www.morichbowling.com/Education/DualAngleSeminar/DualAngleSeminar.htm

Thanks.  Reading through the pdf prompted the question.  I assume its the influence of the assymetry in the core, but I guess I'm trying to make sense of "late revs" for a short pin to pap distance, when the same layout on a symmetric gives early roll.
