drilling(long post) HELP ME
« on: March 26, 2009, 04:05:27 PM »
I am looking for help and suggestions for a ball and drilling pattern that would help me with my over hooking problem. Most of my stuff is drilled pin above rf by different distances,cg anywhere from center of palm to 45 deg rt of c/l and mb anywhere from just rt of thumbhole to 45 deg rt or 3-4" rt. My speed is 14-15mph,revs around 350-375,axis tilt around 12 deg, and PAP is 5.5" rt and 1" up.  If I try to throw down the boards(which I used to do all the time although it has been many years ago)the ball usually ends up hitting the 4pin so I end up swinging the ball just to have room to play. If I play inside it is not long before I run out of room on the rt lane because of the ball return. HELP!!!

2 options. Stack it pin above bridge w/ cg 2 degrees or less right of center line. Seriously almost straight up.

Label drill. MB in the track, pin right of ring finger.

Sounds to me that you're using balls that are too strong for your characteristics and lane conditions.  Maybe try a ball that is listed for dry lane conditions, possibly even urethane.  --  JohnP

move the pin farther left, and down to get it to slow down the roll and not come so hard off the dry.  cg position won't matter too much.   also adjust the surface, this will dictate rxn more than drillings.

i would try a 2" or less Pin-PAP or polish the **** out of your balls.  Unfortunately with your lower speed and slightly above average revs  theres not a whole lot that can be done with drills to help.

Pin farther left (away from PAP), but try to get a bigger pin out, put the cg/mass bias at 70-80 degrees, so that you have to use an extra hole.  Pin under the middle finger if you have to.  This should get the ball down the lane, but hopefully not go sideways at the spot.
