current usbc rules on finger/side/top/bottom weight

I know finger and thumb are 1 oz max but what is the top to bottom weight max? 1 oz? 2? 3?  
I have a full rollers ball in the shop, where they inverted the pin and the ball is legal side to side and fingers to thumb, but has 3 full oz of bottom weight.

All the static weight specs are on P I3 of the equipment spec manual, link below.  Previous posters are correct, top/bottom weight max is 3.0 oz for balls between 10 and 16 lbs, but the specs do change for 8 - 10 lb and 6 - 8 lb balls, which probably doesn't affect the ball in question.  --  JohnP

I looked for that spec manual today and since the new bowl.com site is a peach to navigate i got frustrated very quickly
I thought it was 3 oz but other guy at shop said it was less

I heard on the grapevine they are trying to get all the static rules dropped fairly soon anyway. This was a while ago though and I can even remember the source. Anyone have better info or am I nuts!

I have also heard in the last year the USBC was working toward dropping static maximums too......

I don't expect them to have the rulebook memorized.  I do expect them to remember the four or five specifications they're directly responsible for keeping.  Top/bottom weight, finger/thumb weight, side weight, and maximum hole sizes, all for 10-16# balls are about all a professional driller needs to concern himself with.  For lighter balls, you're probably looking at a plastic ball being drilled for a kid, so put the CG in the grip center and call it a day.  

How hard is that to remember?  By the time you've done the first week's worth of drilling, only the most drool-slicked mouth breather would have trouble remembering those specs.

Also, USBC occasionally changes a rule with no fanfare or notification.  Until the latest version of the spec manual the maximum allowed imbalance in any direction for a ball drilled without a thumb hole was 1 oz.  It was changed to 1 oz side and finger/thumb, but 3 oz top/bottom in the latest version.  The ONLY reason I know this is that a poster referred to the 3 oz limit a few months ago and I corrected him only to find out the spec had been changed.  --  JohnP
