Manufacturers drilling instructions
« on: October 17, 2010, 04:54:34 PM »
Has anyone else noticed that nearly every manufacturer fails to mention axis tilt and axis rotation in their drilling specs?

It seems that they are leaving out a huge part of dialing in the correct layout.  There are quite a few people that these generic layouts just won't work for.

Lets take the 715T I just drilled.  I have low tilt, 10-13*.  So, with assy cored balls, I need pin positions around 3" to make them work well.

Tracks recommended layouts:

Drilling #1 puts the pin 5" from the axis, #2 5" from my pap, #3 4" from my pap, and #4 5" from my pap.  Out of all those, the 4" one MAY have worked okay.

But, past experience tells me that it wouldn't have been great.  I don't mean to pick on Track, b/c they are all pretty much the same.  The only exceptions are Morich and 900 Global, 900 mentions axis rotation but not tilt.

With so many variables, doesn't it seem wise for companies to list all factors on the drill sheet...i mean it can't take up that much more space?
