315 Drilling... 2 questions

Is a "315" drilling on a PIN IN ball (0"-1") also known as rev leverage?

The problem is that I'm rolling over the holes with the new ball... but I like the results I've had so far - what to do?!  I am normally a higher 3/4 roller, but never quite to the holes, especially the finger hole.
I am very curious to see suggestions because I think my proshop will re-drill if I ask them to since it's rolling over the holes.

No, 315 is different from rev leverage.

kingswingin -- If your drawing is correct, the pin location is below the pin safe zone for a high 3/4 roller.  That's why you are flaring into the finger holes.  See the thread titled "PIN just above midline" on this board and go to the pin safe diagrams on the Big Blue Hammer drilling sheets with the link provided.  --  JohnP

This would be a better drawing, pin is right next to CG, but only a bit above midline. I do know what you are saying about the pin so low... I didn't know it would still apply with a ball that shouldn't flare

Just cause a ball is pin in (0-1) doesn't mean that it wont flare.
The amount a ball flares is an effect of core dynamics (differential) and pin to PAP distance not pin to CG distance.

I don't think moving the hole down will make that much differnce, as not to flare over the holes. Your best bet would be to move your grip down like you've drawn, keeping the pin close to finger level. =:^D

YOur pin and cg up drilling is a correct drawing for a 315 drilling.

Move your fingers down like you drew.

I called up my pro shop guy today and told him what was happening, we are going to take a look at the ball together next week - he said there are a couple things we can choose from to help.

Another question, while I have anyone's attention: When I looked at my layout sheets last time I was in the shop, he had my PAP written down as 5¼" over 1" down.   Looking at a lot of profiles on here, I haven't seen a lot of "down" PAPs... what does that say about my track/release?  Do I need to be doing something different?  Do you think he may be wrong?  I think he got my PAP the first time by measuring back from my first track on an old ball - he's never seen me throw a ball.

kingswingin -- You have what is called an "inverted" track.  That means the track runs closer to the fingers than to the thumb.  It's not all that rare, my track is also inverted, but only about 3/8 inch down.  --  JohnP

Added on edit:  I'm wondering about your ball driller.  First, he should never have used that layout for a high tracker, much less an inverted high tracker.  Second, if he's doing any quantity of work for you he should have watched you throw a ball by now.

Added on second edit:  I just realized you never told us what ball this is.  If it is a low end ball with a pancake core you can forget everything I've said about ball flare - that type ball won't flare at all.  Also in that case, my apologies to your ball driller.

Sorry - it's in my profile.  NU-LINE VIRUS, but it's PIN-IN 0"-1", (CG and PIN are within 1/2" from each other)... tried to illustrate that on my pictures.  I have a weight hole on my PAP 51/4 over 1" down.
