Title: Suggestions on a dual angle layout for Long Oil Patterns
Post by: Southern_Info on April 07, 2011, 11:50:09 PM
I'm looking any ideas on a good layout that could use for someone who is slightly speed dominate over revs, has a high axis tilt and high ball speed. Any dual angle layout suggestion would be greatly appreciate for long oil patterns with high volumes of oil on the lanes. I currently have a ball with a dual angle layout of 42x4x35 with 1000 abralon surface and it is the strongest ball in my arsenal. I feel like I need something stronger that can really open the lanes up. My PAP is 5 11/16 by 1/2 up. TIA

For me I usually keep my drill angle shallow (25 - 40 degrees) and I keep my VAL angle big (60 - 85 degrees) being I am rev dominate, as it appears From there its just surface adjustments and maybe some small tweaks to hand position. You say that is the strongest ball in your arsenal....what is it? and what type of ball are you looking to make your new strong ball...?

Are you going to be on long patterns with mild volume or long patterns with alot of volume? If alot of volume, you want something that is going to roll, a good midlane ball with a strong layout at 2000 to 4000 abralon. If a long pattern with mild volume, I would say a ball that will clear the heads cleanly and read the mid lane later....say a finish of 2000 to 4000 with polish and a longer layout. Being a staffer for MOTIV, I could try and sell you our stuff, but there are many balls out there will do what you are looking for, so for me: a high volume, long pattern = CRUEL @ 1000/2000 and a strong layout and for a mild volume, long stuff = PRIMAL @ 2000/4000 with polish and a length layout....IMHO. I am sure many others will have thoughts too....:)
