ARCS!!!!!!! (because most of my equipment skid-snaps)

Help! I need you drilling gurus to recommend some layouts for a wet/dry lane condition I often bowl on. This condition is killing me with over-under reaction and I am in desperate need of a layout that does nothing but arc so as to minimize any targeting errors I may commit (I have no pull or miss wide area on this condition). I have a free (for the most part) ball that I would like to set up specifically for this condition. Please keep in mind that I am a med-high rev, inverted tracking bowler as I imagine that will affect pin and MB placement in some way. Sorry, I do not know my PAP

first you would be better playing the oil line. I was a tweener and was getting killed by this condition when others are banging out 230's.

I'm still a inverted high tracker but have less speed and revs now.

you have to close up the shoulder and take you hand out of the ball. run it right up the oil line. all of a sudden your equipment won't jump so much.

now having said this before, I learned to play the condition, this worked for me.

pin under ring or in ring and CG negative. a 105 deg layout. I'm going to try a 4 x 0 layout as well.

I also like pearl particles or med to low load particles as it calms down the "Jump" off the dry.

If the lanes dry out quickly I like to have 5 x 3 layout on a strong ball or a 4 x 2 on a weaker ball so when I have to move in deeper than I like, these balls are still able to turn the corner just enough.

Just my findings.

Any chance you could show me a pic of this layout? (I may have to explain it to my driller over the phone so he knows what kind of ball specs to look for at the distributor and so that he can have it drilled and ready for me to throw by the time I get to the lanes)

As for taking hand out of the ball, I have been expirementing with some success but it is an old wood house where sometimes, I think, patches in the mid-lane dry out and make any ball want to take a left turn early. I figure if I have an arcing drill on my ball and hit one of those spots I'll at least have a chance at a brookie strike, instead of the ball snapping hard and taking out the 4-7-8, or worse, the 7 pin only

I have done this with 2 balls. I did not like it with thumb weight as much.

I find a 2" pin has worked best for me with a low top wt.
so place the cg is on grip midline 1/2" towards ball track.

When I turned it up, I never liked pins less than 4-3/4 but maybe you could place it at 4" it you have long pin. if the backends fly, keep the pin low. you may wind up with 120 deg layout. I have used that as well. you may like that even better becuse it will let you play the track area longer.

in general I found that the CG placement on the left side of the grip( towards the ball track) help the core stand up quickly so it dosen't flip as hard off the dry. giving some control.

Ok....I think I follow you. So IF I were to use a ball with a 4 inch pin, I would still place the pin under the ring finger and just kick the CG out even further to the left on my grip midline?

(BTW, thanks for the speedy response, this sounds like it will fit the bill just nicely)

on a 4" pin out ball,
You would have a ton of side/bottom and the wt holes would be in the tracking araea or very close.

Place the cg so that it is 1/2 oz negative.

if you have a 4" pin ball you may want to try the 4x0 layout if it is reactive.

otherwise I would go with a 2 x 5 kind of a 120 deg layout and keep the cg on the positive side.

i like 4.5 x 2.5-if a little oiler
5 x 3

something like that

if you go 4 x 0
you have to get a ball with lower top, or it will be impossible to get all the side out

All the stuff I am currently throwing is in my profile, but I do not know how those balls are drilled, just that they all tend to snap. I know my Monster Slay'r gives me a reaction similar to that which I am asking about, but it is continuously getting it's hit/drive killed by carrydown and will still snap when used on its intended dryer conditions.

Have a PrimeTime drilled pin under ring with cg negative and works great on the wet/dry. Go to ebonite.com and look at drilling I beleive its drilling 4,5, or 6.

decrease top weight to bottom weight, decrease finger weight to thumb, the overall will more like a azc drive.
