I wonder how using the same span and pitches how by using a tapered thumbhole could cause pressure on your palm???
In all reality there are a lot of ways to taper a thumbhole.
Just at the top via bevel and you left all the pitches the same could in effect add reverse and add strain to the equation as ball will act like there is more reverse and one must squeeze.
Or one can taper a hole from both front to back, side to side, both or just one.
I for example have a thumb that has no taper from side to side has a lot of taper from front to back and is oval. Suppossedly tapered grips cause squeezing. I don't know why unless someone means they add reverse to front of grip.
Otherwise yesterday I used an old tapered oval thumbhole taper from front to back, side to side taper taken out and tore em up with that ball. Was it the ball? The taper grip? Or the bowler? Or the lanes!

PS look at your thumb. Do you require taper? Where? Front to back? Side to side? Did your taper add a bunch of reverse in effect to the thumbhole and also maybe thru beveling both add reverse and shorten span? Double impact?
