talked about it before...one more time...
« on: March 05, 2006, 06:23:21 AM »
i have a very high track. not sure of my exact pap measurment as i'm sure it's changed over the last year or so. i've noticed that i'm as close to a full roller as i could be. my first 2-3 rings of flare are right through the thumbhole, no matter what i do, i cannot move it away from the thumb...any suggestions as far as pitch goes? thumb pitch right now is 1/4 under and 1/4 right. lmk.

All comes down to the suitcase type release!

A change in pitches could help, I would start by subtracting some of that right pitch, it could be causing you to turn the ball early.

Or you could just go the other way and actually lay out a ball full roller.  That should move the track enough to go between fingers and thumb... its better than thumping.  Our association high average bowler is a full roller (he also shot over 2000 all-events at nationals!)... nothing wrong with a full roller release

Matt, Every conventional drill I've ever tried rolls over the thumb hole. I started using full roller drills and it made the ball track between fingers and thumb.I put the pin and center of gravity in a 7:30 direction to grip center. I've found the best distance pin to grip center for me is 2". Now I don't throw the ball fast(about 14 MPH). If you throw faster you can use leverage drills(Pin 3&3/8 to grip center). These drills do roll early but they carry well. Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions.
