On my new ball I went across town due to the one I wanted to go to had a tournament going on. So I told the driller my finger and span problems. I don't use grips, and I know that my current balls holes are a little too tight and especially the middle finger span felt like 1/4 too far.
I have mine at 0 degrees. He was saying because of the roughness around my finger and the brown bruising on my finger was also because of my pitches in my fingers. He suggested to go to a 5/8 reverse pitch, and my span on my fingers with from 4 7/16 for middle and 4 5/16 to 4 on both fingers. Grip wise it felt great, no pulling in my hand at all. No feeling of the ball falling off in my backswing or anything.
The problem, which is always too late is he drilled the finger holes too big or so it seemed. Before I always had my fingers before the first knuckle and these can go down to a near semi finger grip if I allow it to. However, if I place my fingers at the center of the knuckle line and put my thumb in it feels good.
Throwing the ball seemed much different. I did put a piece of tape in the thumbhole but the ball came off my hand clean with little effort.
I was a little upset in the beginning thinking "I'm going to have to plug the fingers" and have it redrilled but since I was always told from others my fingers do not go deep enough into the ball, maybe this is how it is supposed to be and just need to get used to it.
