Does the span length need to change when going from 1/4 reverse to 1/8 reverse thumb pitch?

moving your pitch forward 1/8 is not a great amount.  i went from 1/4 reverse to 0 (moved forward 1/4).  i did not change my span and had no issues what so ever.

Not necessarily.

Bill Taylor would say if one wanted a similar feel and holding power one would shorten 1/4 inch for every 1/8 forward of pitch...but that is only if one likes the current holding power.  But there is a correct "full" span.

TO go shorter often gives one the ability to go more around the ball.

But many leave span the same and go forward...1/8...1/4 and many end up with black lines under front surface of thumb and nerve damage(who don't add front bevel) and others add bevel and increase holding power and have no damage.....
