Thumb Slug vs. Thumb Insert

Is there a difference in feel? Would a Thumb Insert wear out over time like a finger insert?

I now use vise pro oval inserts. There is a difference in feel but not major in my opinion. I order one size smaller and then use a bevel sander and 220 grit paper to customize to my thumb. Much faster than customizing a slug to oval.

No, the thumb inserts will not wear out, just like the thumb slug.

Slugs and inserts have a vastly different feel depending on the texture of your skin.  

Those with dry skin will like the inserts because they are a little tackier and allow the ball to stay on the hand easier.  Those who sweat will like slugs because they will be able to get them smooth and glassy for easier release.

If you've never tried an insert, give it a go, if you've never tried a slug, give it a go.  You might like one or the other based on your skin type.

They should also wear out in the same time frame.

Inserts are vinyl.  Slugs come in both vinyl and urethane, but most drillers I know use the urethane ones, which are harder.  I personally use inserts in my balls, but I use a Magic Carpet at the top of the hole and white tape at the bottom, so my thumb actually doesn't contact much of the insert.  --  JohnP

**You can't say it any better than backswing-aplenty, that's exactly how I'd explain it.  I've tried both and my skin in dryer, so inserts work great for me.**

I've tried inserts...not good for me.  Couldn't pry it off.  But my hands sweat a lot.  So, thats why I hated them.

Inserts are quicker and you can sand them to the finish or slickness that you want.
