Kelp,
to see a real noticable difference a strong MB ball is best. MoRich, HIgh end track Ball are such, maybe a few others. the Hammers blues?
Pin to pap, surface, core dynamics and MB placement work more in concert with the bolwers style to achieve a reaction with these balls. so I'm not sure if low rev stroker will benefit but a med and higher rev player can notice a big difference in reaction with the same drill.
pin to pap will determin the amount of flair. pin hieght above or below the gripline will determine length(rg). Mb will effect the the change of direction. surface to coordinate these reactions with the lanes.
as an example I use to of the same strong MB balls I drilled. one is 4" x 4.5(MB)" with the pin 3" above grip midline. box surface. the other was a pin 2" above gripline drilled 4.5 x 5.75(MB). this placed the MB left of thumb(track side).polished
Ball one will go long but turn with a hard arc on a fresh long pattern
Ball two will not turn the corner unless there is a lot of dry. real broken down shots were needed.
My high rev friend with different pap, speed, tilt etc.. threw ball one. where as I had a hard arc it snapped for him.
so not every layout is equal if you are not a factor in it's drilling.
the best thing you can do is get real with your specs. Most bowlers over rate themselves. get an honest evaluation.
once you get a well layed out and prep MB ball they are better than any symetrical ball. get it wrong and you will hate it big time.
I find that these high tech balls are designed for a reaction and it is prety much that. the animal is an arc ball and even with a flip MB placement it still dosen't get a real sharp angle. however the flip design of the unleashed will flip( for a particle).
in gerenal a MB near in track will be a contninous arc so it has a general overall smaller ball path to the pocket ,conditions prevailing.
a MB right of thumb( between val and track) is the stronger flip area.
MB on or past the val will arc harder off the breakpoint. my favorite all around layout due to my higher axis roatation.
hope this helps.
maybe you are lucky and live close to some of the track gus, tenpinspro or Ex etc.. go to a knowledgeable driller of strong MB balls. you get the most for your dollar out of them.
