long pin?

In the Misc. section someone asked about what to do with an 8" pin.  What I'm wondering is could you drill this sort of long pin with some version of axis?  Maybe put the pin negative and cg on PAP?  What would that give you?  Anything useful?

Ragnar Floggurass -- The first thing I'd do with a ball like that is check the cg.  I'l bet it's mismarked.  --  JohnP
