Drilling a 1" pin for high tracker bowler
« on: April 05, 2005, 10:31:07 PM »
Hello to all, I just buy a Hybrid Dirty Bomb for my wife. The ball has 1” pin and my wife’s ball track is very height, it’s really near the thumb hole (1/8" – 1/2") and near finger hole too.
Which drilling could I do to give her more control on the ball and avoid the ball to roll on the thumb and finger holes?
Thanks to all,

mrspare -- How much topweight does the ball have and how strong does your wife turn the ball?  --  JohnP

Thanks JohnP,
The top weight is 2 oz and her axis rotation is about 75°. She has already an other Hybrid with 3" pin and drilled with 4 x 4 with weight hole in her val 1" under her pap, the ball is too strong for her. She just want to have a ball less hooking then this one. I really love to put the pin under the bridge but I'm afraid that the track will hit the thumb hole.

I also track very high and have no problem with pins under fingers on balls with a high differential. However, pin below the bridge is a low flaring drill for a high track so it may be a problem.  With only 2 oz tw you probably can go above bridge without a problem, but I would drill the pin out with the ring finger and kick cg towards grip center.  John P will give you a more qualified opinion than I.

mrspare -- I would recommend a 2" pin to PAP, pin just above the line from the PAP to the RF, and the cg angled back toward the grip center.  Your driller will be able to estimate ending finger and side weights.  He will probably be able to take care of the finger weight by drilling the holes extra deep (if necessary).  If you have to have a balance hole for side weight, put it on the PAP.  Good luck, and let us know what you do and how it comes out.  --  JohnP

Thanks JohnP & Stringer,
I think that I'll go with this solution, pin 2" from pap. I'll feedback when ball's drilled. Thanks,
