drilling a avalanche slide
« on: November 11, 2008, 02:18:14 AM »
Had a avalanche pearl that had the pin above the ring finger 5inches to pap. The ball was really squirtty in oil. Drilling the slide today want some feedback as to the differences between the two balls and where to go with the pin. My specs are 4 1/4 over 1/4 down, an inverted track, 450 rev rate with 16 mph. according to mike jasnau.

The Slide goes longer and is a little more angular. Neither one is designed for oil, except for going "around" it. You should probably go with a stronger layout if the first was strong enough for you. Good luck.

On edit, mine will be drilled today (finally) at 4" from PAP and maybe even below the fingers...

To tame this down a little do i need to use a lower pin placement? Right now i have it marked off with a 60x70 dual angle with the pin in the ring finger.

Lower pin placements will make the break point more smooth.
