Title: Thumb Pitch for 4 3/8 span?
Post by: cooksey on September 06, 2005, 10:00:20 PM
Hello all, I am looking for a general starting point for thumb pitch for this span. I know it is a general question but what thumb pitches would you use for a "rule of thumb" so to speak? This is the total span by the way. Just looking for a starting point for the reverse pitch in the thumb. Thanks for the help.

Depends on how flexible your thumb is.

Hey all thanks for the replies. I looked at the chart but was wandering how you determine the flexibility of the thumb? Is it at both joints or just one?

Thanks, cooksey

cooksey -- This is one of the areas of fitting that is still more art than science.  After you've analyzed a couple hundred hands, a little manipulation of the thumb tells you where they fit on the flexibility scale.  And you would be amazed at the variation in flexibility.  You have to see a "very flexible" thumb before you can recognize a "very tight" one.  --  JohnP
