Over the past two seasons I have had to get a new ball driller and comparing my ball tracks for my older driller and my new driller my tracks are very similar.  I seem to track very high (fingers within 2in and thumb within 1 in) with all my equipment.  My question is -- Are there preferred or recommended drillings and or pin placements for bowlers with high tracks?  Like everyone else I want to throw as good of scores as possible and I was wondering if tryning some new drillings could help.  I am pleased with my current aves. (203,205,202,) in three diff leagues at three diff houses but wouldnt mind possibly getting some better scores if something like a new drill pattern could help.

When you buy a new ball, it comes with a drill sheet.  The drill sheet gives recommended layouts for high, low, and medium trackers.

However, it all depends on what type of reaction you want from the piece of equipment you have drilled, as to how you should lay it out.

Did your driller measure your PAP?  This is the recommended way to find good layouts for each new piece of equipment.

That being said, there is no magical lay out that is going to all of a sudden turn you into a 230 average bowler.  If you're really looking to get higher scores and become a better play, I would suggest coaching.

EDIT:  In your profile it says you are a stroker.  I am a lefty stroker, and what I have found is the smoother the equipment the better.  My favorite type of layout for my game is stacking up the pin and cg, while placing the mass bias on the negative side of the thumb.  I drilled up a Black Widow this way, and while it's still plenty agressive, it is super smooth.

It would all depend on ball speed, revs, and all that good stuff, but I don't have a lot of hand or ball speed most of the time, so smooth works very well for me.

Actually, by your description your track is more medium than high.  High would be within 1/2" of both finger and thumb holes.  Your PAP is roughly 5" over and 1/2" up.  The problem laying balls out for high trackers is being sure the bow tie is high enough that the ball doesn't flare over the finger holes.  Draw a line from your PAP to the center of your RF hole, and keep the pin to the right and above the line (for a right hander).  Balance holes in the positive thumb quadrant will also raise the bow tie.  --  JohnP
