Question on legality of X-Hole
« on: December 26, 2006, 12:35:31 AM »
Recently a friend of mine purchased a Roto Grip Rs1 which was layed out with pin right of and in line with ring finger and the Cg swung right about 2 1/2" with a X-Hole in the Thumb pos quadrent the X-hole was 1 1/4 in diameter upon looking at the X-Hole closer we discovered there was another X-Hole inside the initial hole about 3/8 diameter we took the ball into a pro shop and had it checked and found all the static weights to be legal but the pro shop operator could not tell us if the extra X-Hole inside the first X-hole is legal.
Does anyone here know the answer to this? the reason I am asking he wants to take this ball to Rino but now he is not sure if it is legal.

You can drill finger holes like that, for vacu-inserts, so I dont see why it would be illegal.

According to USBC rules, the X-hole cannot exceed 1 1/4 in diameter.  If the hole is really 1 3/4, that'd be the first thing to take care of in order for him to use it in Reno.

BShep ir right, 1 1/4" is max diameter for a balance hole, and that includes any bevel on the hole.  I don't like to use over 1 1/8".  Recheck the diameter, I have trouble believing a driller even has a 1 3/4" bit.  --  JohnP
