Want a killer backend reaction? Read...
« on: December 18, 2003, 07:12:20 PM »
I've only seen this drilling a few times, but actually tried it in a ball yesterday....WOW.  Here is the map for it

2-3 inch pin only!
2 1/2-3 1/2 oz topweight only(any more will be too hard to get back into balance
*= Pin
o= C.G
( )= 1 inch weighthole drilled 3 inches deep
x= axis point

--*--
--O-O---( )
-------o-------x
--------
---0---

There should be a 45 degree line through the pin, middle finger hole, and C.G.
Bring the Weighthole up near the fingers and 2 inches in from the VAL to increase flare and drill out the topweight.  This gives you a great read in the lanes and as soon as this sucker touches dry it looks like someone kicked it.  Great for opening up the lane on the house shot or to square up and cut through carrydown.

Yes, Jabs is correct. The key is the measurement of the pin to PAP and CG to PAP, not how they look in relation to your grip holes. =:^D

I forgot to mention it's not for high trackers.  More for people who come around it and track at least 1 inch off of the thumb.  Also that should be a 45 degree line through the pin, ring finger and C.G.  The pin will end up moreso over the bridge instead of the middle finger.  I just couldn't get my picture to work out the way I get my ball out.

DP3, T-God,

Because my PAP is sometimes 5x0, sometimes from deep inside, it is 4 3/4" x -1/2", I get that reaction just by putting the weight hole on my axis.

On pearls I can't play outside at all; with solid or pearls I have to play inside 3rd arrow, closer to 4th arrow with such a drilling, on anything except exrremely mild balls such as a Sonic-X solid.

I just redrilled a Vicious like this, the first ball I've had like it and I love the drilling.  The only difference is the pin is over the ring finger for me.  My PAP is 5 1/4 x 0 to 1/4 up and I'm a high tracker.  I haven't had any problems hitting any holes and really love the reaction now.  With a stacked leverage the ball was way over under, now it reads the lane and has the backend I thought this ball should have.  The drilling does like to jump if you get it to the dry too soon, especially later in the set.  I look forward to getting more equipment drilled like this in the future.
