As far as I have learned -
This is not considered a stronger drill. It is meant to control the backend, NOT to open it up. You're looking for a completely different "animal". Tommy Jones needs this to control the high rate of revs he puts on the ball and to prevent the ball from over-reacting at the backend.
Try a more "normal" 5"x4" (CG or MB) drill, pin over the center of the bridge or over the ring finger, approx 3" above the midline) on a strong flaring pearl, if you want to open up the lane. Also good for Shark patterns, flat oil patterns and reverse blocks, when used on particle pearls and solid resins.
