Layouts for softer conditions
« on: March 29, 2007, 02:59:52 PM »
I average 195-205 on sport conditions (well more on the cheetah but that doesn't really count) but only 210-215 on THS... I have alot of trouble with getting my ball to deflect, causing me to leave alot of 8's,9's and 4-9's.  I try to combat this by using weaker stuff (i.e my tropical w/ a 2x3 layout)  but I still leave noticeably more 8's and 9's 4-9's than I would like and ALOT more than other people.  Also feel that I may raise my strike% if I where to use a stronger ball (but some how get it to deflect... Layout).
350 RPM's 18-22 MPH (I can change) 10 degrees of tilt (hard 2 change but can if i really need 2) And i can easily change my Axis of Rotation. PAP 5 7/16" over 1" up If u need more info Msg me, if u have any ideas post them.

I don't know if this will build in "deflection" for you or not, but on THS with flying backends, I've had a lot of success out of balls drilled with the pin directly over and high above the bridge and the CG in the palm area somewhere. Good mix of getting the corners, drive through the deck and not overreacting.

To do this, you'll need to start with a fairly pin-out ball, and it might not work for you as well as it has for me.

Jess pretty much summed it up.

Unless you drop weight, getting some longer pin to pap distances above the fingers will delay some energy.

The first ball out of my bag used to be a pin down V2 Sanded. It wreaked havoc but never scored, so i jumped to some higher pin balls like my bruiser and ultimate inferno.

I have a high track like you, so im using mostly pin over ring finger drillings.

Thanks for the input... I may try that type of lay out on a Fired Up and or Jolt Pearl.
