Taylor's finger laterals

What do you do for finger laterals?  Bill Taylor recommends 0 and 5/8ths right for a fingertip right handed bowler. Seems to me that would raise the outside of your palm even further away from the ball than it already is.

0 and 5/8 does not cause your hand to be off the ball at all - just the opposite.

When you put your fingers in the ball your middle finger should - more or less - be in line with your thumb. This placement will cause your fingers to grip at angle...
 .......    0 0
 .......    . \ \
.......    . 0  -   This angle of grip puts more of the ball in your hand...    However - if you use strong Rt. pitch in your thumb  - you may need to decrease that pitch - which will also help the ball sit more fully in your hand.

If installing grips, I would imagine lateral finger pitches of 0 and 5/8 would end up meeting at the bottom?  I could see it working if you went grip-less...

I use 3/8 and 3/8, but I'm just starting to learn and that just seems easier for me to remember.

I use 1/4 Left on middle, 7/16 Right on ring. As long as the bridge is at least 1/4", they don't meet at the bottom(1.5" deep).
