Title: Tracking over plugging
Post by: supernoodle on October 05, 2005, 10:04:41 AM
I recently bought a 2nd hand UI and asked my local pro shop guy to drill it for me for a certain reaction. After he drilled it I noticed that the ball tracks over the plugging.

What I want to know is a) How much is this going to affect the ball reaction and b) Do you think I am right to feel slightly peeved that he did not bother to mention to me before he drilled it that it would track over the plugging?

Cheers guys......

Very little and no.  I have plenty of balls with quality plug work in the track.  Several honor scores with each.  You asked for a certain reaction.  As long as that's what you got, it's your fault for not being specific for avoiding plug work in the track.  The shop is probably used to putting plugs in the track to get a certain reaction, and didn't think twice about it.  I know a lot of people don't like it, but it really has very little effect on ball reaction.

As long as the plug doesn't have a flat spot, you're fine.
One of my best used balls has a thumb plug right in the track, have shot honor scores with it.

Will not affect you at all. At least 3 of my plugged and redrilled balls track over plug, Saw Blade, The Deal, and Throttle UP (pics in profile) and all of them are great.
