Turbo Ice Inserts
« on: December 22, 2004, 01:25:39 PM »
I have been using these in all of my own personl balls but I have a problem with the ones in my Dirty Bomb.

I don't know if the problem is with oil or my cleaning regimen but the inserts have turned brown at the top. The bottom is clear still but the top 1/4" has turned brown.

Could it be the polish I use? I typically use Track Clean N Polish.

Could it be the lane oil soaking in? We use Prodigy.

Any insight?

I've had my white grips also get that brown seeping into the top 4th, always thought it was oil. I don't use clean n' polish, so thats the only thing I would guess.

I haven't had that problem with my white Turbo inserts. I clean my balls with Neo-Tec's Hook It, but of coarse keep it off the inserts. I use for polishes, Ultimate Quick Cut 500 Grit, Storm Step 2, and Columbia 2000 grit polish and have had no problems.

The turbo's have the habit to have color bleeding. it's possible color tranfer from the towel, or the ball. the ice have no color at all so they "feel" more tacky but they actually take longer to set up and stick to the wall of the insert.

If it was a color bleed problem though son;t you think it would have bled down the entire insert and not just the top 1/4" ???

Is it possible that the glue affects the insert material and causes it to pull in the pigment from the surrounding coverstock?

I have these in two balls so far and haven't noticed any discoloration.

The more I look at my other equipment I am wondering if it is my cleaning regimen.

I will use CLean N Polish on my Dirty Bomb and spare ball and I clean them on the spinner. I use Clean N Dull on my Solid also withthe spinner and I am seeing a discoloration in these balls now. I wonder if it's because of frequent use of a spinner for routine cleaning? Maybe the inserts are so soft that they are "burning" with the spinner heat and polish??
