What layout could someone use on a reactive ball to give it a urethane ball type roll?

that is a hard thing to do as nothing will react like a urethane ball other than a urethane ball. I assume by Urethane you mean you want something really smooth and will not jump on the dry?

Well the easiest way to achieve something similar to that is to drill a Pin-Axis, or some variation of a Pin-Axis drill.

Again, it will react and still hook on the dry because nothing reacts like Urethane other than a Urethane ball

Buy a motiv bowling ball and drill it pin down.

those things are insanely smooth, and are about as close as you can get to urethane, while still being reactive

I have a scout high flare urethane(strawberry/blue colored one) with the pin above the bridge, cg kicked right and no balance hole.  This ball is flat out awesome on dry lanes.  It's smooth but hits and carries great.  If I could only get that same type of motion but with a stronger cover so it can be used on heavier oil, I would be in very happy.

I've never tried a pin axis layout.  I should give it a try.

Bluerrpilot, I have been thinking of doing close to a pin axis layout on a storm jolt that I just got for free, I don't have anything else drilled like this. Stats are in profile!!

You could drill a ball with a 2 inch pin, pin just right of center of grip and cg towards thumb to give it like 3/4 thumb weight, that might do it along with some surface?

I have never had much success with pin-axis, but I told my pro shop operator to drill the ball like this:

---------
---o-o---
----p----
---------
----C----
---------
----O----
---------

P=pin
C=CG

And I got exactly what I wanted. Smooth, even roll, still hit.
