US OPEN any good layouts?
« on: November 10, 2004, 03:49:24 PM »
I know it's early but i'm tring to getting my bowlers prepared. Any of you guys bowl it last year in Cali. can you let me know what works and what to stay awy from. I thinking about balls like old Red Predators with strong layout with large X-holes with plenty of surface.

most of the guys last year had pin over bridge and cg slighty kicked out..most balls were drilled for smooth arc.....do not use a ball with too much surface..the lanes break down very quickly and aggresive balls burn up too much...again,simple layouts that give a control at the back end is what you want...

I was thinking plenty of surface , 600 for high rev player 400-320 for med-low players. this is being played on Brunswick pro-anvale (SP) which is very hard. I figured with this super flat pattern and large volume of oil that good midlane read and control at the break is the key. I was thinking low pins for long transition. I heard the tranition of the pattern is the hardest part of the tournament.

Not to be funny on the telecast the PBA guys break the pattern for over a 1/2 hour so we really don't see the true pattern that is layed out.
