Frankie May video
« on: April 12, 2006, 03:15:24 AM »
Has anyone seen this video?  I just had an opportunity to watch the Frankie May "bowl in control" video last night.  His suggestions for ball layouts to use over the course of many games were interesting...  The main point of the video was to use a certain layout until carry ceased, then switch layouts.  By switching between three basic layout, you are able to alter length and reaction shape to achieve carry.  One thing which stood out to me (which wasn't pointed out in the video) was that in addition to switching layouts, he also changed balls, at one point switching from a charcoal executioner all the way to a green centaur!

I saw the video. Good to see Larry Laub again, and his wife Betty Morris-Laub.
I thought it was a good video, and the 3 layout idea was really a good idea.
I'm waiting to try it out. It explained core position and ball reaction in nice simple terms.

I got this video from Rich(aka Duke Harding) and thought the vid was good.  I also liked the 3 layout approach.  This is a real simple approach to an arsenal which in my eyes is a good one for most bowlers.

Bettye Morris...always found her an attractive bowler in her day!

And if I remember right ...I loved Larry Laub's bowling.

I got this video on DVD at the Nationals for $12.00 special-the orginial price would have been $32.95.And Frankie May autograph is on the cover.I saw Frankie May working on a ball.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

I have it as well. Good info on it. I might disagree with some of his thoughts, but he probably knows a LOT better than I. Just somethings I don't think would work well for me, but that sure isn't knocking the video.

I agree.  I'm not sure that I buy shifting the cg for the three layouts actually tilts the core (pencil drawn on the ball) as shown in the video... I seem to remember a CAD drawing which showed that moving the cg about while holding the pin in a fixed position, did nothing to the core angle, but rather acted to spin it about its axis.  Regardless, it was a good informational video..
