Title: Vent hole question about cracking

I cannot throw a ball without a thumb slug due to my hand causing a suction like vacuum I saw how to put a vent hole in the thumb I am assuming that it will not cause the ball to crack out anywhere I tried it in a plastic ball without a slug and seemed to get out of it fine and would be nice to be able to stop spending money on slugs. So in short will this cause any problems like thumb hole cracking out in the bottom or crack from vent to anywhere Thanks guys.

I have had 20+ balls drilled with a vent hole and haven't seen an issue, but the majority of those are balls with a thumb slug.

For someone that doesn't work for a pro shop, I've spent a lot of time in them and haven't seen or heard of a vent hole causing those sort of problems.

I use vent holes and have for 25 years not to mention used them is my proshops. Never have I experienced this!

Vise has slugs with a vent hole.  Saves on drilling the extra hole in your ball.

Wilbert, that is not a vent hole in the Vise thumb slug until you drill a small horizontal hole, thru the vertical slot, into where the thumb hole will be. I believe the vertical slot is there to let air escape when gluing up the slug.

I love Vise slugs.  I now use the Vise IT interchangeable thumbs (which I love love love!!), but even before when I just used the regular slugs, I had no problems with a vacuum holding onto my thumb.  The notched out area on the back side of the slug does a good job of emulating a vent hole.

If your driller is careful not to fill the air slot with super glue.  --  JohnP

A good point I imagine several drillers don't pay attention to!
