Very odd tracking. Need Help!!
« on: October 25, 2006, 06:09:27 AM »
Gentlemen I have a customer who bowls thumbless and tracks on the opposite side of the ball than a right hander should.  His track is still turning in an angle appropriate for a right hander however his ball track runs on the right hand side of his grip.  He is unwilling to change release and needs a ball to smooth out hooking backends, most anything I drill him other than label leverage clips the fingers.  I need help coming up with a layout that can fit his needs yet not clip.  His PAP is all screwed up at 9" right and 4" up.  I've run out of thoughts so anything you can contribute would be appreciated.

I have local bowler who uses his thumb but has a very similar track. If uses label leverage or any conventional righty drill he clips the fingers as it flares. Now is using a near lefty full roller layout that stays on the right side of ring finger and thumb. I have never seen any one turn the ball this much with a thumb in and track this high, and do all this with a smooth release. His current drill does not give him very good carry but is quiet. I wonder if he used a conventional 7 o clock righty full roller drill if it would bring the track between instead of a lefty type track......same dilema here in Ohio, Alzgarvin

When I was working for a pro shop, i came across this very thing.  The answer given to me by Mo Pinel, was drill the ball as though the pin is the mass and use the mass as the pin.  In other words, flip the ball upside down.  It actually worked out pretty well.  Hope this helps.

thanks guys will try the upside down pin and mass idea, already tried a full roller layout and clipped so I know that's not the answer but thanks for the suggestions.
