Title: Very small track! HELP!
Post by: kmanestor22 on November 12, 2006, 12:47:00 PM
A customer comes in saying a ball we plugged and drilled doesn't hook.  The actual story is his kid brought it in saying to drill it for his dad and we had his fitting on file.  He said just to drill it for hook.  The ball is a Diablo so whoever drilled it put the pin at 1:30 not knowing how this guy throws since he didn't even bother coming in to talk to him.  I look at the ball and his track could fit inside a big ashtray.  His flare didn't bowtie, it just looked like circles around the very end of the ball.  Putting it on the spinner I find his PAP to be on his bridge!!!  I guess he could be described as a semi-spinner with a weak wrist(this is the diagram that matched what I saw in one of Riggin's seminar books)  My first educated guess is to redrill with the pin 3-3/8" left of the bridge.  Anyone deal with this kind of bowler?  If so, any suggestions on how to drill?

A wrist brace should probably keep him from spinning the ball... but lessons aren't a bad idea either.

tell the guy to stay behind the ball, relax his had throughout release, and dont spin the wrist.

he must be squeezing and spinning, thats all i can think of.

no ball with a 4" diameter track is going to hook, period!

My pro shop guy would say if you can't drill it for him, then you shouldn't be drilling.

"Anybody that tells a customer they are throwing the ball wrong is an idiot!"

Don't flame me, those are words straight out of his mouth.
