Best Drilling for Low Tracker?
« on: October 09, 2004, 10:04:00 PM »
My Dad is considering getting a new ball. He throws medium speed, medium low revs, and he has a low track. Pretty much a one ball bowler that bowls once a week. What is a good all purpose drilling for this style bowler. I don't have the PAP information.

Any info appreciated.

Drillings that promote roll. Depending on lane conditions etc. Typically, low trackers get good length and need help getting balls to get into a heavy roll for maximum carry. The drilling would certainly depend on his pap and lane conditions.

OK, so what is a heavy roll drilling? Pin and cg distances from PAP? The lanes sound like it is normal league shot. Med oil in the middle, dry outside.

Thanks

You should look at drill sheets for some assistance in drilling a good driller shouldn't have a problem finding a good layout for your dad.

A heavy roll drill  would be something pin 2.5-3.5 from PAP and MB somewhere between Strong and VAL. The closer you put the pin to PAP the more arcing the reaction and the closer the MB to VAL the more arcing.
What ball is he using now and is he able to get it into a good heavy roll or is it skidding to much?
Knowing what he is currently using and what he is looking at will help to suggest a drilling or allow someone to suggest a ball and drilling.
