RICO DRILLING
« on: February 16, 2008, 08:22:44 AM »
I'm a rev dominant player (300-350) w/ a low ball speed (14-15 mph) and a high axis rotation & tracking (PAP 5 3/16 * 1/2) and was pondering about drilling my fury and a twisted ( whhich will be coming soon) with the rico drilling. Would this drilling be suitable for someone with my sort of style? Anyone's insight would be helpful.

I think it would depend on what type of oil pattern and lane surface you used such balls. Because a Rico drill is smoother and earlier than the average drill, it might not help a rev dominant player as much as you might like because your release is already providing and early hook. However, depending on how AND where you use such balls, they can help you smooth out wet/dry conditions and overcome some carrydown issues.

I am also rev dominant and tried a Rico on a ZOne Clasic. On my typical light to medium-light oil, this ball with this drilling hooks a whole lot but is very even and controlled. It is never skid/flippy. I need to find a little more oil to use it well, for my release.
