Weight Hole Possibly,
« on: January 10, 2014, 09:43:14 AM »
Alright I am looking for some help. A while back I had my PAP placed and found that I am an inverted full roller. I had a Shooting Star drilled up according to that layout and that ball was entirely too strong. I have had a few balls drilled up since then, but had them drilled at 12 o'clock....nothing near what the Star was drilled. I have a Eruption and a Slingshot both drilled at 12 o'clock. Unfortunately both balls are still very strong.  I don't throw the Eruption unless there is a good amount of oil, but the Slingshot I do. This ball is still extremely strong. I throw somewhere between 15 & 16 MPH, standing 35, targeting 17 and getting it out to the 8 down lane.....roars back! So I am hoping that someone can tell me that a weight hole might help by taking some flare out of the ball? HELP!!!!

The full roller layout is supposed to cut flare. There are a few questions I have in order to better understand your issue. Have you tried surface adjustments? Ebonite Extender Polish, Bean's Secret Sauce, Innovative Slip Agent Polish are all great polishes for cutting down hook. Simply, take the surface to a lower grit pad, then hit it with a slip agent polish and that will get the ball to bleed energy faster and roll rather than save and flip. What is your PAP? Have you tried a Pin on PAP layout? You also may want to check out the wiki on forum.bowlingchat.net. Mo Pinel has full roller layouts and gradient weight holes that will help fine tune your balls reaction.

Thank you for this information. I had always hit these with 4000 grit then step 2 or 3 polish. Makes since why they retain and snap in the end. Not sure what my PAP is but when I rolled for the proshop, they scratched their heads and said.......uh this is not a bad thing but you are an inverted full roller. Somewhat rare style but it does happen.

Inverted full roller means if he's a right hander his track is closer to appearing as a left hander or his PAP is over 7.5"...I've drilled for a few bowlers that were like this...the issue is controlling the flare which is not easy and weight holes are tougher due to the flare. Have them try burying the gripping holes to take guts out of the core or the dynamics lowering the flare potential.

Why does it matter what time they were drilled at?
