Pins in unsafe zone, but i'm not rolling over holes?
« on: January 13, 2005, 05:01:30 PM »
On my Element I have a 4"x2" layout with the pin being an inch or more under my ring finger.  Isn't this supposed to be a bad idea for someone with as high of a track as mine?  My PAP is 5.5" over and an 1" up.

Any thoughts?

5.5" over is not really a high track. 6' approaches high, in my book.

The basic problem arises when you ball begins to flare. The bowtie, the axis for flaring, should be above and to the outside of the middle finger.

The Element flares or should flare a good deal with a 4" pin. Where is your bowtie?

I'll double check the bowtie location this evening.  It could just be my low rev rate that is letting me get away with this.  This ball is drilled with Dynothane layout #2.  Large and deep balance hole just below my PAP.

On a side note... I consider it high because I commonly roll over the thumb hole on my plastic balls.

Checked the bowtie, it's right inline with the bottom of my middle finger and about an inch to the left of it.  I guess I don't have enough hand for this to be a problem.  *shrug*

I agree.

I have almost the same axis coordinates as you Jmac.  I've had numerous balls with the pin below the fingers.  No problems here.....
