Help needed in ChicagoLand Area
« on: October 13, 2006, 09:18:35 AM »
I need some feedback from my fellow Chicagoland/suburban bowlers.  My equipment fits fine in relation to the span, but I am getting a sneaking feeling that my grip and fit is not optimized (pitches, etc.) for my (what I believe to be) awkwardly shaped and sized hand and thumb (no laughing).  I'm tracking pretty low lately and I'm not even sure if this has always been the case, but I'm thinking I'm coming around the ball considerably more than I should be.

I am looking for opinions and/or experiences any of you might have had with what you would consider a "top-notch" fitter/driller.  I've been struggling as of late as well and I know that I have more work to do than even just getting my grip fixed so if these fitter/drillers can offer some decent coaching, all the better.

I appreciate any and all suggestions.

Check out Will Clark at River Rand bowl in Des Plaines.  He's a top notch driller and great guy.

Mark London at Bowler's Universe in the Zone Deer Park can't be beat, IMO.

I'm not a bowler, but I do play one on Ballreviews.

If you don't like Wrigley, you might as well leave the country and join the Taliban.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Selliger of the Southern Cal bowling league. I just got a report that a member of your team, Walter Solcheck, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true, it controveens a number of league bylaws.

I've never experienced Will Clark or Mark London, but I've heard nothing but positive things about them.

Personally, I go to Chicago's Bowlers Shop inside Brunswick Niles, owned and operated by Rich Blake.  He does a good job, also a good coach.  The guy that drills for me is Dan Karbowski (thirtyclean on BR.com).  I've never walked out unsatisfied.

If you are in the city check out the shop at Diversey River Bowl.  Can't remember their names.  Diandra Asbaty gives lessons out of that shop.
