Never used one and know nothing about it?

How much do they usually cost?

Ric -- The Armadillo can be used several ways.  First, it locates the bowler's PAP quickly and accurately.  Second, it quickly locates the PAP on an undrilled ball for a selected layout (for example a 5 x 4).  Third, it sets lines at a true 90 degrees.  And fourth, unless I'm mistaken, it quickly determines a bowler's axis tilt.  --  JohnP

Added on edit:  Buddies' price is the best I've seen unless you operate a pro shop and can deal with a supplier.

bowling index $47.95 / Buddies $50 - look at the shipping and you've got about the best price. Or, find someone who bought one and no longer wants it.

(in TX the armadillos usually cross the street at the wrong time)

Makes a great soup especially if it's been out in the Texas sun for over 24 hours!
