Title: What exactly is rev leverage???
Post by: Slopsurprise on April 08, 2006, 02:15:17 PM
I have seen different diagrams that have shown rev leverage drillings. Most the pin is in the palm region but, Visionary shows one that calls for the pin to be lower than the fingers for max hook in oil but, if the pin was higher what kind of reaction would it produce?  What makes this drilling special and what kind of bowler/condition is it good for also?

Could you possibly include details why it is good on a sport condition?

Would you say it's similar to a Pin Axis Drilling?

Typically rev leverage is a pin pin below fingers at 3-1/2" to 4" inches from axis, with the a weight hole around 2-1/4" inches down the V.A.L. from axis. What this does is make the ball flare the most, whiis caused by the weight hole being close to the thumb hole where the holes meet the core causing a larger flat spot on the side of the core, which in turn increases the differential and flare potential.

Overall this is a better layout for flooded lane conditions than the rico drill. Rico just makes the ball earlier and lay off on the backend, and can only be used by medium and low trackers.

We used to use alot of rev leverage type drills to control the back ends.  Make the ball burn up some energy sooner, so the ball would not release it ALL at the break.  Track Triton Heat was awesome drilled this way for many people.

Don't use it so much anymore, the balls are stronger and pins closer to leverage burn up too fast.  The covers are more versatile today than ever, most of the time you can calm the break point by lightly scuffing your back flares with some scotch brite.
