Title: What is the best way to get more revs?

I have a big hook and I want to know what is the best way to get the most revs possible on the ball?  Right now I get a lot but after about 3 games my ring finger gets a black and blue mark and remains there for a few days.  Any suggestions for that?  I ask about the revs because I'm wondering if the way the ball is drilled will help with that.  Thanx.
