Please Help I'm Stuck!!!!
« on: February 29, 2008, 12:21:48 PM »
All Right Guru's I've got a challenge for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got a question and need an answer quick. I'm drilling up a ball tomorrow morning for a friend that is a full roller!  Now when I say a full roller... I mean it, this guy rips the ever lovin' Sh!% out of the ball. He was having trouble carrying once the lanes broke down a bit, throwing a lavender quantum so I suggested a Cherry Vibe! I figured that might give him a little more A*$ but not over react to much! Well I was getting a feel tonight on everything, so that I could punch it up for him and all of his stuff is drilled the same way. With the recommended drilling for a full roller. I was looking for something a little different for him, a different layout that would give him a  different reaction but I'm not sure where to go.

Not sure of his PAP yet (but definitely a full roller) throws about 20 mph. Please, if you guy's have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Mark Dodds

I am not a driller.

With that said, which full roller layout is he now using?  Check out the Lanemasters layouts and you will see that they have two there.  You might try the other one if he's not already using it, the one for length.

There is nothing wrong with a full roller if you can play the lanes that way.  FRer's can stay longer in one place than any other.  On the right lane condition ala Billy Hardwick...they would be hard to beat.

Hey Guy's,

Thanks for the great info and links, it's a big help. MI 2 AZ, all of his stuff is drilled in the Max flare position with the pin right about 7:30, that's why I was looking for something a little different for him. Scott, I never said that there is anything wrong with a full roller style...this is just the first time that I have punched a ball up for one. By the way, this guy's rev rate is damn near 400.....and here's the scary part....he's a lefty!

Thank Again,

Sorry my bad, I was converting it to righty terms. All of his stuff is drilled with pin between 4:30 and 5:00. Sorry for the confusion.

You can use different pin to grip center distances if your using the 4:30 layout. I use 2" to grip center on 90% of my drills. The 3&3/8" is too strong for my ball speed (14 mph). You can use anywhere from 1&1/2" to 3&3/8" to grip center with the 3&3/8" being the strongest. With his ball speed I would think he would prefer the 3&3/8" unless you are drilling for lighter conditions.

                             Good Luck,
