drilling question?
« on: October 17, 2007, 04:19:48 AM »
What is the difference expected in reaction between a drilling pin above ring finger and pin above bridge? I noticed most of the higher averages in my Tuesday league use the pin above bridge drilling? So I was wondering i they knew something for that shot I didn't.

You are talking about a difference of maybe a half an inch of pin to positive axis point (pap) distance...that's very little and it wouldn't make any noticeable difference from one ball to the next.  However, every bowler has a different PAP so while the drillings might not look that different they could be very different from one person to another.

Without knowing the persons PAP that is throwing the ball you can't say exactly why it's like that.
But in general the pin above the bridge would be farther from a persons PAP. which would take the core a little longer to take over giving more length than pin over the ring finger.

I myself use the Pin above the bridge on several different balls that I carry because of my slower ball speed and higher Rev rate to get the ball a little further down the lane before it makes its move
