When I was bowling with urathane I always had my balls drilled
straight up label.
When resin came out my first ball was a
Teal Rhino pro. I had it drilled straight up label and found I couldn't
control it. I then bought a T2 with the same drill, and it was much better, but I also noticed that looking at the label the Teal was drilled at more 2x5(cg in palm)
the T2 looked more like 3-3/8x5(label leverage). I bought a Gold Rhino pro
and told them to drill it like the T2 and got the same good response.
I then told the driller I wanted my Rhino Pro X to get as much length,
and hook as possible. I got the ball back and the pin was in the same spot as the T2 and Gold, but I noticed that the label was way over to the right (stacked leverage).
Once I got into reading about pin placement, and I noticed that I seem to like
leverage pin placements. That along with core shape (lightbulb with the neck down) HAs produced my best results.
I have tried different layouts ie Label Leverage, Stacked Leverage, Rev Leverage, 315 with the pin in a leverage position. These have given me the best feel upon releas of the ball.
Reading Mario's secrets he says to build your arsenal around your favorite
pin to pap distance using the rg's and sufaces to do what you want, which makes sense because the pin to pap distance determine the angle at which the core will be at, and that has a lot to do about the feel of the ball when you release it.
Sorry if I rambled, got carried away
