Tommy Jones Layout

I was on the Ebonite site and watched the Ball Layout videos for Tommy Jones. Are these only effective for Asymetrical balls?

Not sure, but given that a significant element of the drill pattern is the MB placement (directly above the thumb, between the thumb and grip center), it would seem that it would be.

However, you can get a large part of the look simply by locating the pin high above the fingers 1-1.5 inch away from the VAL.

Just personal opinion, this pattern is not as hard to manage or control as some say it is.

I agree. I bought a ball with the layout already on it and had the fingers plugged and moved up about 1/2". The layout is probably a bit off since my PAP is different from the original persons' from whom I bought the ball from, but I think it is totally managable. To me the layout looks like a higher shifted
label leverage.

On a different note, Does anyone know why there are 5 different TJ layouts on the ebonite page. There's no audio to the vids:

His Advanced Layout flips crazy hard in the back! He even demonstrates how the 5 layouts react with a lower rev rate...but then again this is TJ and his lower rev rate might be still in the mid 300 to low 400s

Yes you can do this with any symmetric ball just put a mark for the mb 6 3/4" from the pin through the cg and drill up as shown. Works great.

I actually wondered the same thing.. and had a Storm Fast sitting on my shelf so I tried it. This ball clears the heads super clean and hits the backend and goes sideways!! By far the most angular ball I own. Its almost beneficial to get a Pro Pin ball due to the pin being usually around  5 1/2 - 7" If you cant get a Pro pin make sure the ball has a 4-5" pin or else the cg will be way above the finger holes.
*the layout I used was 4  1/2" pin to PAP - 80 degree MB and a 1 1/2" pin buffer.

I have this layout on a One ball, and a Horizon solid, if that gives you any indication of how well it works.

I have minimum revs, probably in the 250 range, and throw regularly between 15.5 and 16 mph. (see my profile)

The One goes long with a little flip on the back, very manageble to say the least.

The Horizon Solid with it's more porous cover, has literally become my benchmark ball, first out of my bag. I can use it on lite oil to medium hvy, and it goes long with a very controlled late arc on the back.

I love this drilling. I tried this drilling on a pearl and it did not work so well. Turned it into a dart....literally!

Without knowing it, I have ended up with a ball much like the advanced layout on my symmetric ball, and I LOVE it.

 I got a long pin CODE from Tekneek and drilled it with the pin far above my fingers, cg in palm and virtual MB just above the thumbhole where the serial number is. This ball is one of the most consistent balls I have ever thrown, especially given it is reactive and I usually end up fighting them quite often, but not this one.

 Here is a pic of it showing the drilling:

 Ball is SOOOO rolly, yet strong as well. I have shot several good sets with it, both from the inside over the fourth arrow and outside up ten.
