PIN's above ring vs PIN's 1" above ring?
« on: July 07, 2004, 01:53:06 PM »
You know what I'm talking about right?

Sometimes I see balls that have the PIN right above the ring finger (almost touching it) and then I see sometimes balls with the PIN like 1" above the ring... why?

What's the benifit of that?

Does it make ball go longer... cleaner through heads... increase/decrease backend... raise/lower track... etc... ???

the higher the pin the more length you get. Don't put it too high or you won't get the ball to roll on the back ends

Those mid-late 90's Zones are good with that layout, my Combat Zone is the only ball with the pin above the ring finger that i ever liked, Rock Pearl is and 3D Hammer super hook was real touchy but that Zone roll is just something else.

What's the benifit of that?" --I'm guessing the undrilled ball had a long pin and the driller wanted to use a label layout to avoid a balance hole.  That puts the pin quite a bit above the fingers.  --  JohnP
