Has anyone tried this drilling on short patterns such as Cheetah? If so, how did work? What are some of your thoughts on why it would or wouldn't work? Thanks.

It really depends on how the pattern plays. Sometimes it plays a little in, and you want a ball to read and stop off the pattern. If that is the case that layout would work good for SOME types of ball roll.
The bottom line is that it will vary greatly. The patterns only play a certain general way, not specific. Thus why the same bowlers don't win week after week on them.
