Thumb-tip Drilling
« on: May 01, 2008, 03:29:41 AM »
I read an article entitled "Thumb-tip drilling gains ground" in a newsletter called The Bowling News dated April 24, 2008.

Has anyone ever experienced this type of drilling ?  If so, what are the positives and negatives ?

Thanks in advance for all replies.

quote:
John,  this is a bit of a tweak on the "thumbless" grip

The thumb is inserted to the first joint.  Gives a bit of control and stability to the "thumbless" grip.

Takes a bit of imagination and experimentation to get the thumbhole in the right position, and pitches required.

It is possible and workable, but wouldn't recommend it.

Yeah, what he said!!

Something like 45 years ago I ran into Andy Veripappa at a demo while I was vacationing with the parents.  He suggested to me that I try thumbtip drilling.  About 30 years later I did, and didn't like it.
