I have a gent who is wanting a pinky hole punched?? Since i've never done one I must ask. Is this normally a figer tip measurement or a conventional?

I have them in all my equipment.

Here's the way I drill them: Take a Pro-Sect and align it on the centerline. Put the zero mark in line with the center of the two finger holes. Measure out a 20 degree angle down from the ring and draw a line. Leave approximately 1/2 to 5/8 of an inch between the edge of the ring finger hole and the edge of what will be your pinky finger hole. Drill the pinky finger hole a short depth (although this is an opportunity to take out finger weight if you so choose) with 0 forward/reverse and lateral equal to one-half of the pitch of the ring (i.e., if the ring is 1/2 away, the pinky will be 1/4 away). This will ensure your pinky hole doesn't hit the ring hole (which can happen, as I can unfortunately attest).

I've never done with three 'finger holes', but have a customer that uses his ring finger and his pinky...not as easy to lay out as it seems, for me anyway.

Here's a tip on how to weigh the ball, in case you need it: ( taken from Jayhawk's site)

Diagram #2 indicates the method used in determining the center of the ball with more than 2 finger holes. The dotted line A-B-D connects the center of the 3 finger holes. Points C and E are the midpoints of line A-B and B-D respectively. Point I is the midpoint of line B-F. Points G and H are the midpoint of line C-F and E-F respectively. Points G and H are connected forming line G-H. Point J is the midpoint of line G-H. Point I is connected to Point J and the midpoint of this line is the center of the ball. This is a theoretical aid to help in finding the center of the ball and does not allow for the curvature of the ball.

For me, yes. It will basically give you whatever the hole you measure off is. If you're measuring off conventional, your extra hole will probably be conventional, too.

When I put my hand in the ball, the pinky goes in almost completely to the first joint. I've found you don't really have to get that hole as exact as you do the other fingers. I've got a couple of balls that were mis-drilled and the pinky is lower than 20 degrees on them, and I can still bowl with them without any problem. Lower is much better than higher in this case. Keep in mind that your mileage may vary depending on the construction of your or your customer's hand.
