Very pleased with helping a friend

I've got a friend that really has a nice style.

Good speed...lots of easily generated revs.  Loves the game works hard at it and has not been getting really what he deserved.

Lots of 570s nicely thrown but a lot of carry problems caused by lack of backend.

He has been taking lessons from some of top notch local gurus... They ARE good and teach well and are well known national bowlers.

His problem to me and to many other people seemed to be just sort of a flat backend entry.

After watching for quite some time I said, "Let me see your span.  It turned out without doing anything extreme (say like abnormal amounts of forward)
his span just looked a little cramped.  Say middle splice of area of fingers between first and second joint over an 1/8 into the finger holes without a lot of stretcing on his part.

Also in watching him you almost had the idea his thumb was almost not quite out of the ball while fingers were in the process of releasing.  Too close together.

If span was correct I would have suggested some pitch changes say fingers a touch more forward but since he looked a little cramped we lengthened 1/8 both fingers.

Long story short...the things he has been diligently working on with his instructors are going to pay off.

His new more relaxed speed is being met wiht a nice little seperation between thumb and finger release.  He told me he does not feel like he is doing anything but just flat handing it and his backend has increased 3 to 5 boards and energy retention and attack angle increased also is sweet.  Carry is big time improved.

He feels like he has just bought 15 to 20 pins of extra carry per game!  His practice scores suggest more.

PS very gratifying... and this is still a very comfortable and relaxed span!

Both were done!

THis guy had a truly unusual roll...most have never seen a guy get so reasonable amount of revs without ...backend.

Now he does have backend!  One can just see the difference in how it comes off hand.

Reminds me of his version of a Pete Weber imitation...Sweet!
