These 6 cover it all?
« on: May 27, 2005, 01:22:20 AM »
I have gotten way too many balls drilled and I am going to sell everything and start over. What do you think of this 6 pack in terms of covering my bases?

Terms weaker and strong are relative to the category (solid or pearl).

Spares/ Scorched lanes...12:00 label shift Blue Pearl Hammer
"Weaker" Pearl Resin...3-1/2 pin x 5-1/2 MB Pioneer, pitched weighthole
"Strong" Pearl Resin...5-1/2 x 3-1/2 Pearl Uranium (or possible S&A)
"Weaker" Solid Resin...4x4 Ravage or Hybrid Dirty Bomb
"Strong" Solid Resin...pin under ring, cg out Solid Uranium
Particle...4x4 Super Carbide Bomb

I am also keeping my 5x4 Super Carbide which may replace the "Strong Solid Resin"...I just love that ball.

ANy opinions?

The only concern I had was that I didn't have a ball drilled something like 2x4. I had a Emerald Pearl drilled like that and it was the bomb on our SPORT pattern...

May like to try a 2x4 drill on a solid resin...is it necessary?

I'm no pro shop guru, but why wouldn't you stick a  Pearl Particle in the lineup? I noticed you seem to like the smaller companies (as do I) and the Onslaught would be a very good ball to replace the Strong Pearl Resin or maybe even the Weak Solid Resin (although it isn't a solid). Just my opinion, but don't you think the Super Carbide & Super Carbide Bomb would be pretty close in reaction also? I know I've thrown both, and the SCB does hook more, but it did seem like they were pretty close to me.

Doug, why don't you use your 'weaker solid resin' ball for the control type drill ? i.e.; Ravage w/ Mo's control drill on it !

Pearl PArticles and I do not get along. I have had several and have not been able to throw any of them particularly well.

I have tried an OnSlaught, Golden Nugget, Eraser PP, Big Blue PEarl etc and have had no luck with them.

My Super Carbide reacts a lot like a resin since I have a length drill on it and it's polished. It gets another 4-5 feet over the Super Carbide Bomb and has a snappier backend.

Control drill on a Ravage...hmmmmmm. Could be an option. The Pioneer is drilled 3-1/2" pin to PAP and the RC is under the thumb so that would be pretty close in terms of drill pattern but if I used a Ravage it would be a more aggressive midlane....interesting idea...thanks Jeff!
